LCFMA 17 : A COMPELLING DISPLAY SHOWCASING FASHION OF THE FUTURE
 

Early in the morning on the 6th January, London College of Fashion kicked off Fashion week with a carefully selected collection comprising of clothing created by nine Masters graduates. Selected by a professional panel, the talented designers Soo Jin Cho, Jooin Yang, Wentao Shi, Tak Lee, Peng Tai, Shu Yao, Zhenhao Guo, Chang Zhang and Changxi Shao showcased a host of designs that could very well be the fashion of the future.
Featuring classic monochromes, sumptuous velvets, elegant silks that became fluid with movement, and science fiction inspired designs, LCFMA 17 displayed an exciting eclectic mix that proposed menswear to be just as versatile and multifaceted as womenswear.

TOPMAN AW17: A funky revamp of circulated trends

On the 6th January TOPMAN rang in the new year by rejuvenating several tried and tested styles. Featuring double denim, retro patterns, and PVC, TOPMAN AW17 revitalised well known fashion trends, whilst maintaining their typically androgynous approach to men’s fashion.

Among many circles attending fashion shows you may not be the only one to exclaim that whilst the clothes worn by models storming the catwalk are visually stunning, they are too outrageous for the daily humdrums of your own life.  It is, perhaps, an ingrained belief that luxury fashion that is appealing to the eye may come at a loss of practicality.

Inspired by Renaissance portraiture and Isaac Oliver’s ‘Rainbow portrait of Queen Elizabeth I’ (1600), the show featured garments that abided by the Venetian palette and were nothing short of the ornate details typically highlighted in Renaissance Portraiture.
