СОЛНЦЕКРЕС
СОЛНЦЕКРЕС is a symbolic fashion film featuring Russian and Ukrainian models in concrete jungles of the city. Directed by Nadia Bedzhanova and styled by Vasilisa Gusarova, the film tells the story of Elena and her girlfriends celebrating the ceremony of solstice, St. John's Eve (Ivan Kupala, July 7th) — one of the main and controversial holidays in old Russia, Ruthenia. Accepted by the nation, the celebration with fortunetelling and beliefs in protective power of elements though had complicated relations with Christianity. The story reveals an allegory of homesickness, the themes of immigration, cultural roots vs. Russian-Ukrainian intercourse, unification of youth and connecting with nature. The scenes of a divination, roundelay, circlets of flowers juxtapose sacral rituals with digital generation of concrete century. Folks are styled in garments of major and young Russian designers such as Gosha Rubchinskiy, Nina Donis, Walk of Shame etc. representing taste of the post-soviet generation with the unique background. The music is also presented by Russian artists, including young electronic musicians (Moa Pillar, Kedr Livanskiy) and classical waltz by P.I.Tchaikovskiy.
