DIESEL took us on a voyage of discovering a new tribe for the Fall/Winter 2018 season. Lining up with brand’s fashion keywords: urban, contemporary, modern tribal and multi-ethnic elements are injected into the new collection.
Like a dark bohemian world, the show led us to another world, from the collection itself to a ritual & electro combined sounds design by Michael Gaubert. It is a celebration of cultures with Andreas Melbostad’s contemporary twist. Models are wearing the face-totem-like make-up with braided hair to be transformed into the citizens of the DIESEL tribe. The show opened with a look combined with a mid-length waistcoat with a tunic dress and fringed moccasins- all black with ethnic prints: hence, the tribal energy opened up with permeates the whole collection:
Navajo carpet patterns, Mongolian coats, Mexican and Peruvian Baja sweaters with a boxy cut, Romanian inspired design indicated on peasant blouses and dresses, and of course, there has a bit of Morocco spirit. The energy extends from fabric, prints to the artisanal craftsmanship shown through the details: the tactile textures enhanced the wildness, then Melbostad balanced and refined by utilising Native American embroideries & studs on the garments, bags, and accessories.
