Belstaff “Jolly Roger” AW17: Retouching the classic military style

An event full to the brim of attendees and flowing with drinks, Belstaff was a show that was truly popular and it was easy to see why.

Exploring the exterior of a recreation of a ship, visitors reached the set of makeshift ship decks and were able to see models posing in the clothing at numerous different visual perspectives. Styled with quiffed hair and dressed in timeless pieces, the presentation had a noticeably vintage feel. Pitching it perfectly between practicality and visual appeal, Belstaff AW17 initially took inspiration from their military and naval roots, with the aim to show that clothing can simultaneously be stylish whilst enduring physical stress.

Focussing on outerwear, Belstaff AW17 incorporated an intriguing assortment of coats and jackets, all of which were equally stylish and wearable. The khaki green parka and black rain mac integrated protection from harsh weather conditions with simple style, and the shearling jacket and melton wool peacoat and dufflecoat combined timeless fashion with strength and durability. Most memorable was the grey distressed leather jacket, reinjecting a classic staple wardrobe item with a unique weathered appearance, tying in perfectly with the naval theme.

Belstaff AW17 exhibited something for everybody in the autumn and winter, reinvigorating important vintage pieces loved by all.
